Email Interview with Cherie
If you're interested in getting to know Cherie, a gifted psychic as well as musician,, here she answers some questions about her personal and professional life.
About Cherie's personal life:
Where and with whom do you live? for how long? What do you like about it?
I currently live in Raleigh, NC and have lived here all my life. I may be re-locating but for now here I am. I was born and raised here, lived here for the most part and I love the climate as it is warmer overall, but we still have seasons with winter being cold but for the most part bearable. We are close to the Blue Ridge Mountains and the NC coastline is 2 hrs away. There are lots of beautiful trees and the people are friendlier than other places I have visited. Despite the 'northern invasion', we still have that southern charm.
Pets? Kids? Family? Hobbies, special interests?
I have two precious kitties, Emmy and Athena that live with me. I am a dog person as well, but my Cinnamon crossed the Rainbow Bridge several years ago. I have one daughter, Susannah who just graduated from Law School and moved to DC where she is currently looking for a job in her field and lives with her fiance. I am the oldest of 5 and I have a brother and sister who live in this area along with my mother and her husband. I have another sister a couple hours away and another who lives in Florida. My father passed in 1994 suddenly. I have 2 neices and 1 nephew.
I am an avid yoga practitioner. I practice mainly Hot Yoga or Bikram style yoga as well as other styles from time to time. I practice an average of 5 days a week. The room is heated to 105 degrees and the class is 90 minutes. It is very challenging but so benefitial. I have been at it since 2001.
Favourite movies, music, TV, food, article of clothing?
I love many kinds of films other than horror movies and movies with a lot of violence. I watch some TV and love dry humored shows like The Office. I am a vegetarian but eat cheese and seafood. I love seafood. I don't drink dairy though so I have a lot of soy in my diet. My favorite article(s) of clothing are definately my yoga clothes, yoga pants and tops I can breathe in.
What are you into - eg any sports, music, dance, drama?
Does yoga count as a sport activity? I think so. Well, that's it. Not into sports at all. I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist/performer and recording artist. I also love to dance and have had much experience earlier in life in theatre. I have one Cd out, Heart Shadows available at www.cdbaby.com/cherielassiter and the newest one is being finished up right now and should be out in December/January. I am very excited to release it. The first one is more of a Celtic/folk/new age fusion album and the newest one is very diverse and ranges from folk to rock to techno folk to jazz to pop. They are all my original songs and the Cd is called, Broken Wing. I perform locally with different configurations of musicians. I am a writer as well for a publication called Inner Change and enjoy writing very much as well.
What do you like to do when you have time to "play" Where do you like to relax?, what would be your ideal vacation? anything else you would like to say about yourself or your personal life.
When I have time to play I enjoy dinner with friends, travel, watching a movie, hanging out with friends, playing music, enjoying nature through walks and just being outside. My ideal vacation would be someplace by the ocean where it is warm preferably and someplace with a lot of history. I really want to go to Southern France, Paris, Hawaii, Egypt, Greece and Spain. I have been to England,Scotland and Wales and would love to go back there. I have been to the Bahamas and loved it! I also can't wait to visit Ireland one day!
As far as my personal life goes, I have taken a break from dating after the ending of a long term relationship and have enjoyed being mate-free. I am going to choose very carefully next time and hope to re-marry at some point in the future.
About Cherie's Professional Life:
How long have you been practicing? What got you started? What makes you stay with it?
Any special abilities, specialized services?
I have been a professional Psychic for 18 years. Professionally I started by doing readings for a person here and there and then word of mouth and then working part time in a metaphysical store where I got a lot of exposure and clientele. What has made me stay with it is a combination of the demand for my services, my desire to serve and help people and that thing called 'fate' or soul agreement which led me down this path. I never had the intention to do this so much as it just unfolded in a destined way. As an empath it has always been hard to be in the 'normal' work force world as my sensitivites make it very difficult. I started out reading tarot and studying astrology, numerology and then became a conscious channel. I am very good at mediumship work and reading past lives. I seem to have a knack for accurate time frames as well. I am also a high priestess in the Wiccan/Celtic/Faery tradition and have been involved with ritual work over the years. I am ordained in the Order of Melchizadek and have performed many handfastings and marriages. I have led covens and magical circles but am a solitary practitioner for the past several years.
What would you say was your most dramatic reading in terms of what was revealed and how it impacted a client?
My most dramatic reading? Hmm. There have been so many. The past life readings are the most dramatic. One of the ways I continue to do this work is to not remember a lot of what I did. I am conscious during the sessions and can recall the work I have done at the time, but I have graciously been gifted with forgetfullness. I work at letting it go once I am complete with a client. When they return to see me, I won't remember anything until I tap back into their field and then it comes flooding back in.
Anytime you have found a reading or a spirit to be funny - as in amusing?
Spirit guides and the spirits have an amazing sense of humor and often make me laugh. They entertain me constantly. Spirits are hilarious!
How has your work as a psychic affected your personal life, how has it changed you? How did/do your family and friends react to your choice of work?
My family reaction went from high drama to loving acceptance. My daughter growing up was not a fan of my work and was most affected by my unique occupation. It is hard to have a 'witch' for a mother. It is challenging in terms of relationships for many reasons. It also allows for deep connection and understanding with the right people, so I wouldn't have it any other way. I have many, many friends and can connect with most anyone but need much alone time.
What keeps you motivated in the work and to keep growing and learning yourself?
anything else you want to say about you and your work
What keeps me motivated is that I have been given a gift and the opportunity to share it to serve humanity.
I feel very mission oriented in my life with my psychic work and music being the biggest focus for me. My innate curiousity about life and consciousness keeps me open to growing and expanding as well as clearing my "stuff" so I can be a clearer channel of light, love and wisdom. I feel inspired to inspire others, assist in healing and opening others to their path and potential. Once you have reached a certain level of awareness there is no turning back. It is truly a joy to be in service through the psychic work, through my music and songs and through my writing and creative efforts. I have learned to clear, clear, clear myself and my body on a regular basis. Through yoga, my animals and connecting with nature and my guides I am able to be sustained.
I have often asked myself and it has been asked of me why I keep doing this work when it can be draining and not dependable income. The answer is, this is who I am, this is what I do. My psychic work and my music are my gifts and my mission. The universe will provide for me somehow or other if I trust my spirit and my path. I create my reality and as such will be true to myself and allow my spirit to guide me.
I will continue to do this work regardless of my financial status or success in my creative field. It is one of the reasons I came into this life and one of the reasons why I stay. There is much to be done.
I also do not take myself too seriously, have a great sense of humor, laugh often and see the light side of everything. That keeps me sane. Love keeps me here. many blessings, Cherie Lassiter
