The first response to arrive on my computer was an e-mail from a friend of mine named Anne Lombardo, who lives in New York City. (Incidentally, Vic (Anne's husband) is often called Guy Lombardo - he is a nephew of the famed band leader of a few decades ago. Anne was a radio and TV producer - she worked with Jackie Gleason, among others.) Anne wrote:

"My four cats sleep all afternoon and evening, but they seem to sense when Vic is about to walk in the door from his late evening music rehearsals.

"They all stroll into the living room from their sleeping sites in the other rooms, and sit and watch the door. One might think they know the sound of his car, which could be heard under our bedroom windows, but there are nights he doesn't take our car, but is picked up and dropped off by other people. Also, with the garages under our windows, and with our apartment being set right off a main through street, the felines hear the sounds of many cars and motorcycles all day long, and most of the night.

"Some of my cats have been able to sense when something really bad was wrong. I don't mean computer troubles, or a miscalculation on a bill, or anything that unimportant. I mean something really emotionally disturbing. Our little Tweeter, who lived with us for 20 years, always knew when I was troubled, and would come over to jump into my lap and look up into my eyes, as though he were trying to fathom what was wrong. Our Junior is practically a clone of Tweeter, and showed up just a few months after Tweeter died. If I believed in reincarnation.... Well, suffice it to say that is why I named Junior what I did. He also looks almost identical to Tweeter...grey and white. Junior is the most sensitive of our current furballs, but he is not quite as sensitive as Tweeter was."

(I might add that there is a chapter on animal reincarnation in the book, with a number of examples of what seems to be animals' spirits returning to their human friends in new bodies. The evidence in these cases is very strong.)

A short time later, I received a fascinating e-mail letter from Claudia McNeely of Gilmer, Texas. I participate in a computer list composed mainly of people who are either psychic or who have a strong interest in the psychic. Claudia is in this group. She is a professional psychic and healer, and sometimes works with animals. She wrote:

"My dog got mauled by something - it might have been a panther, we live in the country - and he kept trying to chew his leg off. We finally had the leg amputated, but he continued to chew on it and it had to be amputated a second time. I have done past life therapy with animals, and I finally thought to find out why he was doing this. In a past life, he had gotten his leg caught in a bear trap and had to chew it off to get out. The pain now was reminding him of that past lifetime experience. I released the memory, just as I would do for a human, and he made an amazing recovery. He stopped chewing on the leg.

"My handicapped daughter had a poodle for a short while. He was her constant companion. Then she got sick, and he refused to have anything to do with her. I 'counseled' with him about it, and he 'told' me that she had died and left him in another lifetime and he didn't want that to happen again. I was unable to change his mind. He never spent time with her after that. He disappeared - we live in the woods."

Animals Can Tell You What's Wrong Inside

The chapter titled "How Communicators Have Helped Heal Animals Physically" contains many amazing true stories of how animals participated in their own healing by communicating quite specifically what was wrong. Here's one little story to encourage you to buy the book. Jan Spiers of Gordonsville, Virginia, relates an example of Kate Reilly's prowess as an animal communicator.

"When our puppy Casey was six months old I asked Kate to speak to him, just to get to know him better... When Kate spoke to him telepathically, she called me back and said: "Jan, I think your dog is sick, seriously sick."

"I'm watching the puppy running back and forth across the room, jumping over things, a really boisterous puppy. I thought no way, that's truly wrong.

"Kate said, "I think he has a disease in the joints." and she listed where she thought the disease was... I decided to take him to the vet. And between that phone call and the time he actually got to see the vet he started limping. And the x-rays confirmed that he had the disease in the joints Kate had specified... It's pretty scary and it's really amazing. The dog is fine now. He had major surgery and is doing well."

About Communicating with Animals

Says Art Myers:

"One of the benefits that authors of books learn to appreciate is letters from the readers. I've published six books on ghosts, and the letters from one book often give me a head start on the next book. Not to mention the fact that they are just fun to read.

My most book, "Communicating With Animals," is not specifically about ghosts, although it does contain a chapter on ghosts of animals. The book primarily involves varieties of communication with animals - as well as to some extent trees, rocks, and other aspects of nature.

The book has been in the stores only a short time, but already I'm getting messages from readers. I got this one the other day from a friend, Claire Sherman, who had given the book to a friend of hers named Trish. This is what Trish wrote:"

"I want to thank you so very much for the wonderful book, 'Communicating With Animals.' I found it fascinating and touching and confirming my intuitive belief that such communication exists.

"A few days after I'd read the book, a friend's 15-year-old dog suddenly became very ill. My friend was inconsolable and overwhelmed by the thought of this loss. I took her the book, and what a difference it's made in her feelings about letting him go. It meant so much to her! So I thank you for both of us."
